Foot & Mouth Update

At long last things have started to change but very slowly. Unfortunately, Essex was one of the worst infected areas and a lot of restrictions are still in place. Basically before we can get a permit we must not only obtain the permission of the landowner but also, in the event of stock farms, the permission of the landowners on each side of the land we want to use. We must also have the permission of M.A.F.F. and the N.F.U.

This assumes that the landowner want us on the land yet. You can imagine that the farmers are being very cautious at the moment. In a number of cases that effect us, we are also hampered by movement restrictions. This means that the farmer cannot move his animals off certain fields. Percy's and East Hanningfield are affected in this way. The animals are still out on the track and cannot be moved.

However these restrictions are now being lifted and we are actively seeking permission to use these tracks. The permanent tracks and motoparks are less affected but you can imagine that to try and get a date that you have not already booked is almost impossible. The meeting at Fengate on the 10th June is definitely on and by then hopefully, we will have the next venue lined up.

We have decided to run the club championship this year, if at all possible. although, this will ultimately depend on how many tracks we can get. We will go ahead with the presentation evening at the end of the year and we have a completely new venue for this in Basildon. We will make this a very special evening to end a very difficult year.

We noted that East Kent club ran a successful disco recently, which was very well supported. Would you like us to do something similar? If you would please let us know your feelings at Fengate.

The AGM this year will be held at the usual venue, the Marconi Club, Chelmsford, on the 14th November. Please note this date in your diaries, as we do need everyone's involvement in the club.

The club is also looking into having its own website. If you have any ideas on this please let us know.

GOOD NEWS

The club has been trying for a longtime to obtain a new track and it now looks as if this coming fruition. Some land has become available and we are negotiating for its uses. The land is spacious but flat, so we will need to put in a lot of hard work in to this project. The equipment is available so it's just hard work that is needed. We will let you know how this is progressing but please try to put some effort in. If we end up with the same six people doing all the work we will not be using it this year.

Now that we have got Percy's back and with a new track coming on line it will make this a very strong club indeed, in the future.

The BSMA are going ahead with the clubmans championship and the team event but we will have to make special arrangements for qualifying for these. We will let you know.

GOOD LUCK FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON

Speak to Martin Tomlin if you have any queries about these arrangements or Jean Ingram for general club enquiries.
