As you are all no doubt aware, the recent outbreak of FOOT & MOUTH Disease is giving great concern throughout the country. Prior to last weekend's event at Sherwood, we took advice from several organisations, not least of all from the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Food. We carefully followed their guidelines which existed at that time, however, the situation has now escalated. Inline with Government and Ministry of Agriculture concerns with regard to the ease with which this disease spreads, we have taken onboard their request to minimise travel and therefore the spread of infection from one part of the country to another. The Motorsport organisations throughout the country have discussed this issue at great length, and are united in their responsibilities towards the Ministry's request for the containment of this disease. The decision has therefore been made to suspend and withdraw all standing permits for motocross and trials meetings in this country for an unspecified length of time. Whilst we appreciate that this will cause disappointment to many families, and regrettably, hardships to supporters of the sport, there is no alternative but to act with responsibility. The situation will be constantly monitored and any changes which will allow us to resume our programmes will be informed to you via our web site [www.ymsa.fsnet.co.uk] and in the Trials & Motocross News, or alternatively please feel free to contact any racing official from your rule book.
