08.07.01 i am  a british soldier serving in germany and my new crosser was going to save from shere boredom anyway i am just writing to see if you can help me with a problem i am having i have just bought a dead rm 125 its a 99 model its hardly been used in its so far short life but for the last 10 months its hasnt turned a wheel and for some reason i cant get the thing started.I have tried everything ive changed the spark plug cleaned the carb out flushed the tank out im really starting to get pis"£d off now.The only symptoms i am getting are: wont start, and when i try to bump start it it keeps on back firing is there any advice you can give me? I would be very greatful.

Hi Kirk Sounds like you've tried the obvious points, I assume you replaced the plug with a new one, may be worthwhile changing for another new plug as I have bought new plugs that failed. Have you checked the kill button and wiring, make sure that there is no connection or frayed wiring earthing the ignition out? also check the compression, just in case the ring is either stuck or broken? If you are happy that the compression is fine then check the reed valve, remove the carb and reed block and check to see that the reed petals are not broken or warped, they should seal across their entire length. After trying the above if it still won't start, remove the spark plug and check to see if it is wet with petrol/oil mix, if it is then check for a spark at the plug, early suzuki's were prone to ignition failure but your model should be fine. If you still have trouble please email me with the results of the additional checks and I will try to assist further. Good luck, Keith

Quick security TIP: Your MX mount is locked in a secure garage with multiple chains and locks both on the bike and on the garage door's but still you feel uneasy at night, is your pride and joy still safe? For this quick tip why not fit a baby monitor in the garage near to your bike, baby monitors can be bought from under forty pounds (some a lot less) they can be battery powered or plug straight into the mains. Position the sender unit in the garage and the receiver unit in a suitable location indoors, you will be surprised at the sensitivity of these units I can here any foot steps on my gravel path leading to my garage on the monitor and if you move the padlock it sounds like someone breaking the bedroom door down!!!I know this will not stop someone stealing your bike or kit, but it will alert you to something amiss if you are at home when they strike.
